MISSCOCO's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
My first client was a very unexpected experience, never had I planned to become a masseur, but after my first client I realized that there might just be a career in the industry for me.
Long story short! I was working at a luxury spa on the West Coast as a makeup artist and hair stylist. A male client had been given a spa gift certificate for his 40th birthday. The service was booked by his wife in advance. He came to his appointment on the wrong day, and all of the masseurs were unavailable. He had been deployed over seas and had just arrived home a few days prior. When he found out he would have to reschedule his appointment he looked so upset, because he had never had a massage and was deeply needing one. As a makeup artist, stylist and skincare specialist I was versed in massage techniques but primarily only the scalp, face, neck and shoulders. As a massage enthusiast myself I figured well I bet I could do it. I had received 100's of massages over the year so I told the front desk " I can do it!"
I'm sure it wasnt the best massage as it was my first time performing a full body massage, but I knew it wasn't the worse one either. He tipped me $100 and rebooked
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
Being a Masseur is certainly addictive. There is just something exhilarating about being able to use your hands to destress, relax and cure a hard worked body. Its like a special power being able to find the areas of the body that need the most work, and with pressure and energy you can cure the body.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
I consider myself a successful healer.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
I have hands that could build a palace, play the piano and find any knot, ball of stress and soothe the hardest worked body. I can pull out the bad energy and replace it with calming relaxed and refreshed energy.
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
Calm, serene, energized, motivated, drunk and happy! However they feel is the best outcome for them, I hope to be able to achieve.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend my spare time traveling, I want my passport to be stamped to the max. I enjoy the outdoors, being active. Kayaking, playing tennis, marathon runner, hiking, swimming, dancing. Love music, going to concerts. Big foodie, love trying new things. Making art, and of course shopping!
Why did you become a Masseur?
I know the daily life stresses that we put our bodies through, and how it can wreck even the strongest person when their body is out of check. Being able to use my touch and energy to locate the body's aliments and recycle the energy is a gift. I love being a healer.
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I want them to be a gushy, glowing walking on a cloud type of massage drunk! Already planning about the next time they can experience the feeling of total relaxation and bliss
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
My professionalism, knowledge of the human body, and a organic connection and energy with each of my clients needs and wants.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
Three years
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I love to travel and do it as much as possible. With that being sad I am a homebody
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Have strong hands and be intouch with the body
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
It is of course very necessary to stay up to date on techniques and treatments to stay current. But having the gift of healing touch can never be over shadowed.
