Matthea's Massage Interview
Do you remember your first client ? Tell us something about that first day when you decided to be a Masseur!
I actually didn't know I'd ever be a Massage Therapist as a part of my education and professional career involved with beautifying hair, skin, and nails, but once I found out that it would a part of my services, I was pretty excited to see how many people would enjoy my massaging of primarily the feet, however there are scalp massages and various other things I could possibly do along with the whole nine yards. I personally do not remember my first client I ever had which I know was in beauty school, but what I do remember is that my leg/foot massages were reviewed and I got a good reputation as a vigorous masseur and artistic hairstylist/makeup-artist.
Some people say that being a Masseur is addictive. Would you miss your Masseur days ?
I don't know exactly, because I personally do not know if my masseur days were to be ever over, unless I get too old for people in age and become unattractive which is, in fact, one of my greatest fears.
Do you consider yourself a successful Masseur?
Ummm.... Of course - I was trained for a year straight in beautifying the hair, skin, and nails of random people(who were mostly people of color) wanting these types of services done on them, which were at the time just mainly haircuts, hair-coloring, manicures, & pedicures, but since I worked so hard in excelling in my college education, I was at the time the "go-to" Cosmetologist in training & to perform such services, I performed each service so very well along with having the highest test scores and GPA throughout the college course. I mean, I don't mean to brag, but it's not that I think I am successful - I know I am successful.
Tell us a little about yourself, if you were to pick something what would you like your clients to absolutely know about you?
Well, I guess even though I'm in my late-20s, I am a person of many trades, talents, hobbies, and personalities. I am quite the "Knower," as my Celtic Tree-Zodiac sign is the Hazel Tree, which is most commonly known as the Tree of Knowledge and Wisdom. I am the Magus while feeling like the Emperor and I'd much rather be a great Magician instead - completing my own endeavors within this "reality."
How would you like someone that contacts you for a massage to feel when they leave?
I would like each client to feel as if they are their very own special-person worthy of love, care, friendship, and personal values as each one of us are our own special person with different purposes.
What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I mainly practice my Luciferianism and Witchcraft, which is composed of practicing ceremonial magic rituals, performing different means of divination, and the conjuring and invocations of Fallen Angels or Demons.
Why did you become a Masseur?
I like to please people in physical and social ways...
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a Masseur?
Make it your best of your practices and if you believe in yourself and know that you can do anything that you set your mind to, you will be successful in your endeavors.
Cogito, ergo sum - I think, therefore I am.
What distinguishes you from all the other Masseurs?
I'm one of the best and most-caring to the point that the thought of pleasing other people really gets to me psychologically, because I desire to be the best of the best in everything I do, even if it's just a simple back-massage - it really helps in knowing that I made someone feel better and less-stressed.
How long have you been a Masseur and how long do think you'd like to continue?
I've been a masseur, as well as a Professional-Cosmetologist for almost 5 years now and I am self-employed, and since I'm a nonbinary transgender-woman, there are barely any salons or spas that would ever hire me, nor even give me a chance with an interview. I've also had very negative experiences working for salon/spa franchises, because let's face it - transgender-individuals, as well as other varieties of the LGBT community are discriminated against in everything just because we are who we truly are on the inside.
It's very sad that people are hated for being truthful to themselves...
How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or are you more of a homebody?
I actually enjoy traveling to many places. I don't currently drive, but I do take the Metrolink and Metrobuses, as they're my main way to get around.
Other than that, I stay at home most of the time, because I don't have many actual close friends, which are what I'm truly needing in my life as I spend a lot of my time alone.
Is extensive training necessary for a Masseur in order to be successful?
I don't believe it should be necessary that a wannabe masseur should get professional education in order to be a successful masseur, however I've gone through constant preparation, education, and training stuck inside my mind and I must say that since I've received such training and did my very best during my time in college, I know exactly how to massage a person the "right way."
How do you like clients to feel about the experience when they leave?
I would like them to be entirely satisfied with my services, because I want it to be worth it for each party - it's like, if you're going to pay for massage for certain areas of your body for a prolonged-period of time, as well as other things I could do for my clients, it better well-worth what they're paying, because money doesn't grow on trees unfortunately.
